Potato Party

Well this post is a little late, but I figured better late than never. Back in September we were blessed to have the help of friends, family and neighbors to get our potato crop out of the ground. We made it into quite a party. In the evening we all had a harvest dinner of potato soup and Asian cabbage salad. We also celebrated David's 4th birthday with a some cupcakes, balloons, and gifts.

July 4th

We had an enjoyable 4th of July this year. In the morning we did some work in the garden and chores around the house. For the afternoon we went to some friends house for a barbecue and visiting. We all had a great time. Later in the evening we stopped at other friends to see some fireworks. David loved the fireworks. It was quite cute, but I didn't get any pictures of that. Here are a few pictures from the day.

Huckleberries

Melissa and I had the chance to go pick huckleberries with Jennifer Watkins, her sister and a friend. It was fun to explore until we found the best patches. We picked until we got driven off the mountain by a thunder storm. Afterwards we went down to the river and had lunch. I didn't swim,(the water was cold and it was still cloudy though the storm had passed) but some people did.

When we got home I washed the berries and froze them. We also ate some of them on ice cream. One of these days I will have to make a huckleberrry pie.

The Best Man

Last Saturday Andrew was the best man in his friend Matthew's wedding. Matt was also in our wedding last September. Andrew was so handsome in his tuxedo and did a great job during the reception keeping thing flowing well. The wedding was lovely and we had an enjoyable day. It is always exciting seeing another couple making a marraige commitment. We wish Matt and Layne a wonderful marriage and God's blessings.

Newlywed Retreat

On our way home from California we attended a weekend newlywed retreat. It was a lot of fun. There was good speaking, fun activities, delicious food, and great fellowship. Our good friends Daniel and Jenny were also there, so it was fun to visit with them. It was a small event with only seven couples total.

Special Friends

Yesterday we had a chance to visit with the Serven girls from Missouri. They and and the Keulen girls stopped at our house for a few minutes, then we all went over to Aimee's(my soon to be sister) for lunch. It was a good time of visiting and catching up. Although I wasn't able to stay too long because I had to be somwhere at 1:30.

Another Shower

After I got home from Washington there was a bridal shower down here, too. Mrs Auringer put it on and it was lovely. The shower had a garden theme. Everyone brought food from their garden.

The ladies sitting around the room. Frances played piano music from Pride and Prejudice.

We played pin the bow tie on Andrew. Here is my attempt.

Another game we played was creating toilet paper wedding gowns.

There were five teams. Here are the lovely results. Some of the dresses started falling apart.

The cake was "dirt" cake in flower pots, they looked so cute. Here I am with my two mothers.

Opening gifts was so fun. The little girls were so excited and crowded around to help me. It was very cute.
