Grateful Everyday

Thanksgiving... a day to gather with loved ones, a day to eat mountains of delicious food, a day to be thankful for our many blessings. Sometimes it is easier to set aside one day to be thankful on, almost as if we fulfilled a duty and now we can go along our way. But what is one day of thanksgiving worth if we don't fulfill the harder task of being grateful everyday? Everyday when the hours are long and weary, everyday when the children are whining and the dinner is burned, everyday when all the mundane tasks overwhelm us. Sometimes it is hard, so hard to remember to stop and count our blessings in the midst of the mess that is so often everyday life. But they are there; a kiss from little lips, a fleeting ray of sunshine on a cloudy day, a crackling fire in the woodstove. And not just to notice all the good things that are so easily overlooked, but to actually give thanks for the hard things, the painful things, the challenging things. This Thanksgiving may we not only give thanks, but stop to remember why we can give thanks in all things... because we serve a great God who gives us grace for everyday, who gives us growth in the hard things. For this may we be truly grateful everyday.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Valentine's Dinner

We had the wonderful opportunity to go to a Valentine's dinner put on by a family at our church. It was so lovely. They did an excellent job to create a special time for all the couples that attended. The room was decorated beautifully. Each couple had their own table and a pair of waiters. We were served sparkling cider and an appetizer plate with cheese, crackers and grapes. The main course was a Ceasar salad, lasagna, vegetables and garlic bread. To finish off with we had chocolate cream pie and coffee or tea. We had a wonderful time and want to thank the Pittelkow family along with all the waiters and waitresses.

My Birthday

David loves birthday parties, so when my birthday came around he was very excited. Andrew was going to bring home pizza and a little cake that night after his EMT class and David kept asking when Daddy was coming home and bringing the birthday party. He also was very excited to help Daddy wrap presents and then give them to Mommy. He did get a little impatient while I opened them and wanted to open some himself! I had a very special birthday and was so blessed by my special family.

July 4th

We had an enjoyable 4th of July this year. In the morning we did some work in the garden and chores around the house. For the afternoon we went to some friends house for a barbecue and visiting. We all had a great time. Later in the evening we stopped at other friends to see some fireworks. David loved the fireworks. It was quite cute, but I didn't get any pictures of that. Here are a few pictures from the day.

David's Birthday Party

David turned one year old this past week. It was lots of fun! He had a party; cake, presents, and family. He really enjoyed the party.

He got a kitten from Aunt Aleah... how fun. He likes to follow it around the house now.

He also got a tricycle...
